December 31 Nungwi Beach, Zanzibar
Wow, New Years Eve! Happy New year everyone!
We had a very relaxing day. Swim, eat, swim, eat, coffee!

We went to the hotel nearby for the New Years Eve BBQ seafood feast with the young couple from Spain and Chile. A great night of eating and having a few drinks. Such great company. The food was great. Lobster, red snapper, dorado, octopus and many types of salads. And this was all after seafood soup! Oh yes, and this was all in bare feet, still... it has been 2 weeks....going to be tough to put shoes on!

We lasted to midnight even. Then headed over to the beach party in front of the bar next door. A big bon fire, even a guy flame throwing and many Masai warriors out having drinks, talking and doing some traditional dances and chanting (I think traditional). Then we went into the bar. They had a DJ going and the place was packed! Lots of fun but strange. It was 95% young local guys, with some male and female tourists mixed in. The local guys included many Masai as well. Just strange but no problems at all, all they wanted to do was dance! Very nice as there were a couple of drunk guys, but there was no trouble anywhere, not even an argument that I saw.
I finally got to bed at 2 am! It has been many years since I have been up that late or even saw midnight!
