March 6, Sucre, Bolivia

Up early for a van ride to the market in Tarabuco Market. About 1 hour from the city.
This is a regional market held eacch Sunday. It is usually a large market but there was some rain this morning that may have slowed it down. The market was centred around the main square and then down the streets. The place was packed with people. You could get anything you want.
Some of the people would travel in the back of large trucks with their goods to this market. Apparently there is a lot of bartering that goes on but I did not see any.

Back to the city, lunch at coffee place and then walked up to the mirador that overlooks the city. Beautiful views. Very quiet as it is Sunday and not much is open.

Then to the main park. This is where everyone is. Lots of families! And of course food sellers, and lots of different rides including ponies, 4x4 and airplane!

We went to a folk dance and dinner show. The guy at the coffee restaurant worked at the theatre so he made our reservations and also got us the best seat in the town.

March 5, Sucre, Bolivia

After a 3 hour drive we arrived in Sucre. Another very nice looking city! The hotel is very near the main square. This hotel has a great court yard. Spent the afternoon on a city tour. This city has a huge market area where once again you can buy anything you could want!

Went for coffee down the street. Excellent coffee made with a machine!
But have to say that most hotels have great coffee. Strange method of making... using beans that are ground into a fine grind, they press a very thick and strong coffee syrup. You just add hot water. It is quite good..

March 4, Potosi, Bolivia

A few hours in the van....I can't remember how long it has been long a week. There were a few days where there has not been a chance to do any blogging... oh well...it will be short.

Did a short city tour walk. A very nice city with lots of churches. This city is well laid out in a grid and seems to be a bit more affluent. This city is known for its silver mines that have been around for 500 years.

We went for saltenas! Excellent food. It is like an empanada. I had a beef one and a chicken one. The beef one you had to bite off the end and use a spoon to eat the insides. Very good. A little sweet as it had a raisin but also an egg and an olive in each one. The Chicken one was a bit drier but very good. Strange as the restaurant was like an old palace! Huge and packed with people. Apparently they make 5000 saltenas and they sell out by lunch!

A relaxing day just wandering around the city.
